BAKER CITY – (Release from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest) The Wallowa-Whitman recreation team has published the 2022 fee chart for specific developed campgrounds on the National Forest. These fees are based on amenities provided at each location.
Developed campgrounds, listed below, that have water services will be $15 per night, while sites without water services will be $10 per night. Current annual passes will still be honored at applicable sites for discounts. Concessionaire-operated campgrounds, such as those around Anthony Lakes and Phillips Lake, are not affected. Dispersed camping will still be available free of charge throughout the Forest.
How will the funds be used?
Under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, fees collected at recreation sites are used to operate, maintain, and improve these sites and facilities for the public. Site fees provide the financial resources to continue offering services such as cleaning and pumping toilets, which are the highest cost at most sites.
How can I pay the fee?
Visitors can pay their fees using the fee envelopes and fee tubes that are at each campground. Cash and checks made payable to USDA Forest Service can be used to pay fees.
When will fees be collected?
Fees will be collected whenever the sites are open for the season. Most sites open around Memorial Day. However, for the higher elevation sites, those open around the Independence Day holiday.
A list of the sites and their associated fees are listed below. For more information about the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/wallowa-whitman.
