HERMISTON โ€“ Law enforcement officers arrested two men on charges that include attempted murder last month. Both arrests were on April 21 involving separate incidents, one involving a firearm and one involving a machete. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus says they are moving forward on charges for each of them.

โ€œThose two cases have made the news, so just to let the general public know, both of them have been charged and both of them are in pretrial,โ€ he said. โ€œThatโ€™s the phase where weโ€™re trying to get reports and trying to get videos.โ€

Andres Gordillo of Umatilla is charged with reckless endangering, second-degree disorderly conduct, attempted unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree assault, and first-degree attempted murder. The man he allegedly shot suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.

Vernon Clarke Adams is charged in the second case when he allegedly stole a bag of clothes from a victim after attacking them with a machete. The victim received a severe laceration on the back of the head. Charges against Adams are first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and first-degree attempted murder.

The suspects in both cases remain in Umatilla County Jail.
