JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was on Coffee Time Tuesday morning and explained to listeners that Grant County public entities qualify for Firefighting Management Assistance grants from three different fires over the 2024 season.
Bush said the FEMA grants help pay for firefighting resources both locally and through the state:
“So, that’s a real important one to reimburse costs for local governments, because you as taxpayers are paying for that response at the local level. Whether it’s a deputy, or a fire truck from one of the cities, and so this will reimburse those costs and thereby help you with your future tax bill, if you will.”
