WALLOWA COUNTY – (Press release from the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office) On Sunday, May 24, at approximately 1:38 p.m., the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received several calls reporting a motor vehicle versus bicycle crash near the Wallowa Lake Marina.
Responding agencies included the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Joseph Fire Department, Wallowa Memorial Hospital EMS, and Life Flight Network.
Deputies, emergency medical personnel, and well-trained bystanders — including doctors and nurses who were already on scene — immediately began providing emergency medical care to the bicyclist, a 13-year-old male, while awaiting the arrival of paramedics.
The 13-year-old male appeared critical, but somewhat stabilized at the scene and transported by Life Flight to a Level I trauma center in Spokane, Washington.
The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oregon State Police, Joseph Fire Department, Wallowa Memorial Hospital EMS, Life Flight Network, Wallowa Lake Marina personnel, and Oregon State Parks.
Names of those involved are not being released at this time.
