The Small City Allotment Program allocates $5 million dollars each year to fund transportation projects for Oregon’s smallest cities. Eligible cities must have a population of less than 5,000 per the most recent census. Project are selected per a competitive process with each project being reviewed on site, scored, and ranked. The maximum award is $100,000 and there are no matching funds required. Only one application per city per year is allowed. Applications are accepted each year between June 1st and July 31st.
A total of 92 applications were received requesting $9,032,850 in funding. Funding was limited to $5,153,016 which allowed us to award the top 53 projects. The Advisory Committee met on October 13th to review the prioritized list of projects and provided unanimous approval. The approved list was then presented to ODOT’s Director who affirmed the Committees decision.
The City of Burns announced recently that they have been awarded $100,000 from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Small City Allotment program. According to the Coty of Burns, this money will be used, along with $1.2 million of remaining HB 2017 funds to pave streets in the city spring 2022.
