1 person killed, another injured in UTV crash near Meacham

MEACHAM – (News release from Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office) On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) crash on Forest Service Road 3030 off Old Oregon Trail near Meacham, Oregon.

Deputies coordinated with dispatch and the reporting party, later identified as the driver, Justin Brent Krieger (36) of Meacham, to locate the scene of the remote crash. Umatilla Tribal Fire Department was notified for medical assistance and Lifeflight was requested.

Tragically, the passenger in the UTV, Monica Kay Low (38) of Milton-Freewater, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Krieger sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Monica Kay Low.
