Man charged for assaulting mother

HUNTINGTON –  (Information provided by the Baker County Sheriff’s Department) On April 17, 2021, at approximately 8:49 p.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call regarding an active disturbance occurring at 29886 Malheur Line Road in Huntington. 

A Baker County Sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene at approximately 9:43 p.m. As he entered the residence, he made contact with the suspect, identified as William Cody Crews (46 yoa). The deputy attempted to speak with Crews, and Crews became aggressive. A struggle ensued and Crews was taken into custody. 

After investigation, it was determined that Crews entered his parents’ residence and physically assaulted his mother. He then dragged her by her arm and hair. Two witnesses attempted to intervene and received minor injuries during the altercation. 

Crews were charged with Assault IV (domestic violence), Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Harassment, and Interfering with a Peace Officer and transported to the Baker County Jail. After arriving, Crews attempted to flee from deputies and began actively resisting. He was ultimately placed in a holding cell. 

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Oregon State Police.
