ATHENA – The Weston-McEwen TigerScots have finished second in the state in football for two consecutive years. Coach Kenzie Hansell has retired from that job and Morgan Dunlap, the former assistant head coach, is taking the reins.

“We’re super excited for the next season,” the 1997 Weston-McEwen graduate said of the coaches that will be helping the boys take the field.

Kai Quinn is the offensive coordinator. He made his mark as a starting quarterback for both Pendleton High School and Eastern Oregon University, Dunlap said. The defensive coordinator will be Sage DeLong, an All-American on the gridiron for EOU who works as Umatilla County’s emergency manager.

Two other Weston-McEwen grads will be returning as assistant coaches as well. They are Casey Perkins and Nate Fuller.

Dunlap said the Blue Trophy, signifying a state OSAA championship, is the goal.
