WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department is mourning the death of Ryan Pleasants, 41, who was found deceased after not waking up while on duty at Fire Station No. 1, 200 S. 12th Ave., Sunday morning. Deputy Chief Eric Wood said no foul play is suspected.

Pleasants was a 20-year-veteran of WWFD and served as a firefighter/medic for
the first 19 years of his career before being promoted to engineer last July.

“Ryan will be forever missed by all his brothers and sisters of the WWFD,” Wood
said. “Our deepest condolences go out to his family and his community.”

Wood explained that Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4, College Place Fire
Department, Richland Fire Department, and the Pasco Fire Department are
currently providing apparatus and personnel to cover all calls for the city of Walla
Walla during this difficult for WWFD.

“We (WWFD) appreciate all the overwhelming prayers and love that we have
already received,” Wood added. “Currently, no other support is needed.”

Memorial service plans for Pleasants are pending and will be announced once
finalized.
