Walla Walla Fire Department investigating suspicious fires

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department responded to two separate fires just before 2 a.m. Saturday at 111 George St. and 930 N. 4th Ave.

The fire on George Street was a junkyard fire threatening a residence. When crews arrived, that fire involved a residence, shop, and multiple cars. Then, firefighters dealt with the other fire on North 4th Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

Damages to both properties is estimated at $200,000.

The cause of both fires is undetermined but suspicious. Since Aug. 1, six fires have occurred in this area of the city. Anyone with information regarding these incidents can call 509-527-4434.

Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 and the College Place Fire Department also assisted as part of a mutual-aid agreement.
