Umatilla School District lauds Bridge Builders

UMATILLA (News release from the Umatilla School District) The Umatilla School district had the pleasure of celebrating our Bridge Builder Awardees at the Umatilla Distinguished Citizens Award Banquet on May 15th. The Bridge Builder Award honors staff who show exceptional commitment to the school community as well as the broader Umatilla community.

This year’s winners were Amy Morse, CBMS (Clara Brownell Middle School) Custodian; Megan Lorence, CBMS Teacher and Instructional Coach; and Caden Sipe UHS (Umatilla High School)/CBMS teacher.

Amy Morse is honored as a dedicated individual who consistently goes above and beyond to support both teachers and students, often through thoughtful gestures and acts of kindness. She actively promotes positive decision-making among students and provides guidance to those facing challenges, demonstrating her commitment to their success beyond academics. Amy’s selfless nature extends beyond the school environment, as she readily assists family and friends, always prioritizing the needs of others and fostering a sense of appreciation and belonging within the community.

Megan Lorence, another UHS alumna, is recognized for her exceptional dedication to her students and community. Not only does she excel as a teacher and instructional coach, but she also takes on multiple additional roles including robotics coach, soccer coach, and helping cover admin roles as needed. Megan maintains high standards and provides unwavering support to ensure student success, as demonstrated by her proactive approach to preparing students for state testing and her willingness to step in whenever needed.

Caden Sipe, alumnus of UHS, is recognized as a Bridge Builder due to his exceptional ability to connect the community and the school. His unwavering dedication to fostering positive relationships and creating a supportive environment transcends his classroom, leaving a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike. Through his countless hours of volunteering and willingness to assist in various capacities, such as coaching football and robotics and serving as Mayor, Caden exemplifies the true spirit of bridging gaps and building connections within our community.

The winners were nominated by school staff and members of the community for their outstanding contributions and then selected by school district administration. The Umatilla School District is proud to recognize and honor these dedicated individuals.
