WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department arrested two people Wednesday night after they took off from a traffic stop for defective equipment and crashed a few blocks away on the 700 block of White Street.

The male driver and female passenger, who were seen fleeing the vehicle, were located hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence.

The driver, Adrian Rodarte, 35, was arrested on probable cause for driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, hit and run, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and possession of methamphetamine.

The female passenger, Cassandra C. Chute, 34, had a felony warrant for her arrest out of Oregon. She told officers she had ingested fentanyl powder. Chute was transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. She was later medically cleared.

Both Chute and Rodarte were transported to the Walla Walla County Jail.
