KENNEWICK – Kennewick police arrested a 14-year-old boy Saturday night on multiple charges after he allegedly stole a white Range Rover and was holding a 24-year-old woman against her will.

Officers spotted the victim and suspect in the stolen vehicle in the Clover Island Inn parking lot and set up tire deflation devices on the roadway leading out of Clover Island.

When an officer tried contacting the suspect vehicle, it started driving away. As the officer followed, the suspect vehicle suddenly stopped and reversed into the officer’s patrol car. The officer sustained minor injuries but was later cleared at a local hospital.

The suspect vehicle fled the area of Clover Island at a high rate of speed and officers initiated a pursuit due to the suspect’s violent nature. There were two successful tire deflation device deployments and the suspect’s vehicle, with two deflated front tires, finally came to a stop on the 1700 block of South Gum Street.

The driver complied with the officer’s commands and was taken into custody with further incident. The female victim was located inside the suspect’s vehicle and said to be ok.

The juvenile male was booked into the Benton County Juvenile Justice Center and booked on second-degree assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police vehicle, and second-degree driving while license suspended or revoked.
