Suspect in kidnapping, pursuit faces more than a dozen charges

WALLA WALLA – The suspect in the April 22 kidnapping involving a 3-year-old child that began in Burbank and ended in a pursuit near Umatilla made his first court appearance in Walla Walla County Superior Court Monday. Stephan Lee Cleveland, 26, has more than a dozen new charges against him.

On Monday, Cleveland’s bail was set at $100,000. Cleveland was arrested last Friday in Walla Walla County attempting to elude law enforcement. Read more about Cleveland’s arrest at https://elkhornmediagroup.com/swat-team-call-leads-to-arrest-of-wanted-felons/.

Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney Gabe Acosta has recused his office from prosecuting this case and assigned Walla Walla City Attorney Tim Donaldson and Walla Walla Assistant City Attorney June Riley as special prosecutors.

Cleveland is scheduled to be arraigned May 13 at 3 p.m. in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
