WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a high-risk arrest warrant on the 1700 block of Highland Road at 11:52 a.m. Thursday. The operation resulted in the arrest of Steven Garcia, 33, of Walla Walla.

Garcia’s warrant was issued by the Washington State Department of Corrections and the charge on the warrant was delivery of dangerous drugs.

The Walla Walla Regional SWAT Team was called in to ensure the safety of all involved. The reason the warrant was considered high-risk was due to Garcia’s criminal history and previous interactions with local law enforcement, according to WWPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Nick Loudermilk.

Loudermilk said that after a period of negotiation, Garcia voluntarily surrendered to authorities, and he was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were sustained by Garcia or any of the officers involved.

Garcia is currently being held in the Walla Walla County Jail.

The Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is made up of officers and deputies from the Walla Walla Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, College Place Police Department and the Washington State Department of Corrections.
