PENDLETON – There’s still time to enter the Path to Success Business Plan Competition sponsored by the Pendleton Development Commission. Three business plans will be selected for grants and mentoring. PDC Associate Director Charles Denight says the plans are for unique ideas.

“What we’re hoping to do out of this is to create three new businesses that will locate downtown,” he said. “They are all going to be people that have novel concepts for a new business.”

The deadline for registering is May 24. The Blue Mountain Community College Small Business Development Center will aid applicants with writing their plans. The three winners will receive $20,000 grants to help turn their dreams into reality. Denight said they will also receive a commitment from the PDC to help them succeed.

“We’ll assist them with marketing and all the things that businesses need to do,” he said. “We will help them to find a location downtown and then we’re going to meet with them once a quarter for the first two years so that we can make sure that we’re not just starting businesses, but making sure they survive.”
