Celebrating Life

Tommy L Duncan, 88, a long-time Haines resident, passed away on January 21, 2024, with loving family by his side.  His Military Graveside Service will be held Saturday, Feb 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Haines Cemetery.  Reverend Lennie Spooner of the Baker City Church of the Nazarene will officiate the service.

Tommy was born September 22, 1935, in Baker City, Oregon, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital on 4th Street to Louis and Geneva Duncan, then home to Muddy Creek.  He was the oldest of 4 children.  He attended Baker High School and graduated in 1953.  He attended the University of Portland in the ROTC program and graduated in 1957.  He joined the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years as a Captain.  He served in the Vietnam War. 

Tommy was a member of the BPOE Elks #3338 for 46 years and a life member of Disabled American Veterans and ROF. 

In 1965, Tommy and his parents partnered to start a cattle ranch, and they moved from Baker to Keating to Haines to be closer to their home place on Muddy Creek.  He served on the Haines City Council and Haines Community Activities.  Genealogy was of special interest to him.

Tommy is survived by his brothers-in-law, Charles Storm and Gerald Long; sister-in-law, Susan Duncan; nieces, Jody Califf (Chuck), Pixie McKnight (Blaine), Trina Duncan, and Tracey Buntyn (Roy).  Nephews Ronald Storm (Cindy), Robert McMurren, and friend Rhonda Page.  He was preceded in death by sisters Joan Long, and Ilene Storm, brother Jerry Duncan, and nieces Mary Williamson and Lucinda Storm.
