Ralph Gordon Orr, known to all as “Gordon,” departed this life on March 12, 2024, leaving behind a legacy as strong and enduring as the Oregon timberlands he loved. Born in Halfway, OR on October 9, 1929, to Ralph and Margeret Orr, his life was a testament to ambition, loyalty, and reliability. Gordon was a talented man who lived his life by the adage, “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” He was proud of his work in the timber industry, retiring as a respected mill foreman from Prairie Wood Products in Prairie City, Oregon, where he resided for 39 years. Gordon was a reliable rock in times of adversity, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. He is survived by his brother Forrest, children, Michael (Gina), Jeffrey, Gregory, Pamela (Russ). Stepdaughters Jodi and Robin. Grandchildren Casey, Mikaela, Megan, Chase Orr, Cody, Brett, Jaden, Justin, Conner, Brett, and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Margeret Orr, sons David and Patrick. Wife, Claire Sue Hire 2020, Wife, Shirley Ann Erickson 1981. Gordons life was a testament to the strength and perseverance of the human spirit. He was a beacon of ambition, talent, and loyalty, reminding us of all that “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Gordon spent many hours doing woodworking projects in his shop overlooking Dixie Creek, his legacy will live on in the many picnic tables and swings he produced, he enjoyed nothing more than visiting with friends and family on his front porch about his life’s experiences.
