Dan E. Swearingen age 64, passed away on November 26, 2023 in Milwaukie, Oregon from complications of Huntington ’s disease. He was born to Mervin and Betty (Christopher) Swearingen in Pendleton, Oregon on March 25, 1959. Dan will be remembered as a gifted athlete who excelled in Basketball, Baseball and Football at Pendleton High School. He was part of many winning teams and went on to help coach both daughters softball teams. He Graduated from Pendleton High School in 1978 and continued his education at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario Oregon where he was on the baseball squad. He graduated there and headed to Phoenix to attend Arizona State University for a year. He then transferred to Oregon State University, Corvallis Oregon where he graduated in 1984. He was a huge OSU Beaver Fan. Summer time’s found Dan playing American Legion Baseball and helping out at the Tucker Ranches. After college Dan Worked at a small tech start up company in Aloha Oregon, then returned to Eastern Oregon to work at the Hermiston Ordinance facility, Madison Ranches Echo Oregon, Swearingen Farms and Fleetwood Industries in Pendleton. Dan was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. On his bucket list was to be able to drive to Alaska to fish there which he did in 2012. It was during this adventure that he took a most memorable plane ride up to land on a glacier. Dan enjoyed the Oregon Coast and spent many pleasant hours searching for agates on the shorelines there. He would then bring the rocks back home to polish and put in his collection for all to admire. He was a member of the Umatilla County Historical Society, Oregon State Alumni Association and Peace Lutheran Church. Dan was preceded in death by His parents. Dan is survived by his former wife, Kathleen Flanagan, Roseburg Oregon. His daughters, Alena Swearingen, Portland Oregon, Andrea Flanagan and husband Andrew Graham Portland Oregon and granddaughter Edith Lynn Graham. Dans siblings include, Terri (Swearingen) Reiman and Husband ,Tom. Woodburn OR and Brother Gary Swearingen and wife Lorie ( Lingle ) Pasco WA His Nephews include Brian Swearingen , Richland WA, Kevin Swearingen and wife Erin, Stafford, VA and Nathanial Swearingen and wife Jacqueline, Spokane, WA. Also surviving him are his Aunts, Corinne (Long) Swearingen Pendleton OR, Phyllis (Swearingen) Skovly Vancouver WA, Aunt and Uncle , Jeanie( Swearingen )Mcbee and husband Bill, Kenmore WA. Missing him also will be his cousins, teammates and friends who understood the health challenges he had. Special Thanks to Agape Care Home and the team at House call Providers for their companionate care at this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace.
