NORTH POWDER — A local volunteer fire department is hoping to proudly wave The Stars and Stripes soon with an enormous new flagpole.

The North Powder Rural Fire Protection District is seeking donations to help fund a flagpole and flag at the department’s station, which opened in 2021 and doesn’t have a flagpole yet.

The goal of the project is to raise $25,000 to install a massive 120 foot flag pole that will fly a 4060 American flag.

“We don’t have a flag pole yet, and we are looking to do something that will stand out and be unique to the area,” said Colby Thompson, Chief at the North Powder RFPD. “It’s going to be a big one.”

Thompson says they hope to raise enough funds to install the new flag by this September.

Anyone that wants to help contribute is asked to call Colby at 541-910-0006.
