UMATILLA COUNTY – The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dylan Michael Ostrom in Irrigon last week. The charges stem from an investigation by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office that began with the theft of a truck that also contained weapons on Despain Gulch Road on Oct. 25. Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson also was instrumental in getting charges filed against Ostrom.

The following is a release from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office:

On October 25th, 2023 at approximately 9:53 a.m. our agency responded to a report of a theft of a vehicle in progress at a residence on Despain Gulch Rd, Pendleton. The owner of a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup reported a male (later identified as Dylan Ostrom) could be seen on video taking the pickup. While responding, the deputy observed the vehicle driving in the area of E Loop Rd and E Highland Ave in Hermiston. When the deputy initiated a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and the deputy initiated a pursuit. Shortly into the pursuit, the deputy chose to discontinue for safety reasons. In addition to the stolen vehicle, the owner also reported firearms and hunting equipment had been inside the vehicle.

At around 2:26 pm. on the same day, the unoccupied vehicle was located by Washington State Patrol in Plymouth, Washington at the truck scales off Highway 14. UCSO responded and processed the stolen vehicle for evidence. The investigation remained active.

As a result of that investigation, on November 1, 2023, UCSO Detective Ellwood requested assistance from Morrow County Sheriff’s Office to apprehend Dylan OSTROM (also known to have an outstanding warrant).  Morrow County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested OSTROM at 260 S First St, Irrigon.
