VALE– (From Malheur County Search and Rescue) On March 26th at 12:55 PM, our Search and Rescue Team was called out after a stranded resident of the county walked their way to a farm house after their family became stranded during an outing on Saturday the 24th. LifeFlight was dispatched as well as Vale Fire and Ambulance.

The search kicked off with deputies, while volunteer SAR members gathered and were given search assignments. One deputy found himself in need of help as the path he was on became blocked and snow drifts prevented turning around. Lifeflight was able to locate the family and transport them to the ambulance staff. All members of the family are safe and healthy, thanks to the cooperating efforts of multiple agencies.

When traveling the backcountry this time of year, be prepared! Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return.
