WALLA WALLA – Yaacov Bergman will retire as Walla Walla Symphony’s music director and conductor at the close of the 2022-2023 season. He joined the symphony in 1987 and has conducted over 200 concerts, more than any previous symphony conductor.

“It is difficult to believe than nearly 36 years have passed since I accepted the position as music director of the Walla Walla Symphony and, though the decision is bittersweet, the time has come for me to hand the baton to a successor at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season,” he said.

Bergman said he is grateful for the many musical memories and has been privileged to work with the symphony’s dedicated musicians who are committed to standards of excellence.

The Walla Walla Symphony will be honoring Bergman’s legacy throughout the 2022-2023 season and will be announcing details later this month.
