La Grande School District possibly achieves its highest ever graduation rate

LA GRANDE – School is over, and graduation has come and gone. Looking back on the 2023-2024 school year, The La Grande School District may have broken a record. During the June 12 School Board Meeting, 2024 graduation rates were reviewed for 4-year students. According to LGSD Superintendent George Mendoza, the district had a 95% graduation rate for this year and a 97% unofficial completer rate. For reference, a completer rate refers to students that completed with either a GED, Diploma, or Modified Diploma. As stated by Mendoza:

“That is, from what we’ve been told, the highest graduation rate we’ve ever had in the La Grande School District.”

This is up 9.5% from the class of 2023’s 84.5% 4-year graduation rate, itself already exceeding the state average.
