PENDLETON – The National Weather Service reports that January temperatures averaged slightly colder than normal. Last month’s precipitation were below normal in Hermiston and Walla Walla and above normal in Pendleton.

Pendleton: The average temperature was 34.1 degrees, which is 0.8 degrees cooler than the normal average. A low of -5 degrees was recorded on Jan. 1. Precipitation was above normal, totaling 1.53 inches. That’s 0.01 of an inch above normal.

Hermiston: The average temperature was 33.3 degrees, which is 2.7 degrees cooler than normal. Ten degrees below zero was recorded on Jan. 1. Precipitation totaled 0.93 of an inch, which is 0.21 inches below normal.

Walla Walla: The average temperature was 33.1 degrees, which is 3.3 degrees cooler than normal. A low of -3 degrees was recorded on Jan. 1. Precipitation was 1.63 inches, 0.47 of an inch below normal.
