SALEM – Teams of students across Oregon met the challenge and participated in a media contest designed to increase awareness about workplace safety and health for young workers. The annual contest is sponsored by the Oregon Youth Employee Safety Coalition and teams got to choose to submit a video or a graphic design to drive the safety message home.

Hermiston High School’s team receives $500 for capturing first place in the graphic design category. Because the team finished first, the school also receives $500. It’s entry is entitled “Don’t Burn Yourself Out.”

McLoughlin High School in Milton Freewater tied for second place in the video category, winning $400 with “On the Job Lessons.” The Mac-Hi team tied with Parkrose High School in Portland.

Two other entries from Hermiston finished as finalists in the graphic design category and a team from Nyssa was a finalist in the video category.
