HERMISTON – Umatilla County Board of Commissioners Chairman John Shafer says that there will soon be a drop box in Hermiston for property tax payments and the like. It will be located at the Stafford Hansell Government Center at 915 S.E. Columbia Drive.

“That way, it will save the folks in Hermiston, Umatilla, Stanfield, and Echo a trip to Pendleton just to drop off their tax payments,” he said.

Shafer also expressed his pleasure with the progress being made on Hermiston City Hall. The county will lease space in that building, and Shafer said meetings are beginning to determine what will go where once city hall opens.

“I’m going to be meeting soon with the city manager in Hermiston and some staff from Community Counseling Solutions,” he said. “We’ll figure out where we’re going to put people in that office. We have this great partnership with the city of Hermiston on that, so we’re really excited and looking forward to working with them.”
