JOHN DAY – Recently, Grant Union Jr./Sr. High School Assistant Principal Andrew Lusco informed KJDY listeners that Grant Union has an Esports (gaming) team:

“Our Esports club—our gaming club. It hasn’t been officially sanctioned yet, but [the OSAA] are headed that direction.

I think that’s in negotiation now, and we’ve got Mr. Teague and a pretty good handful of kids that have invested in that. Mr. Dix, the Superintendent has put some money into that club to build a bunch of gaming computers and a bunch of opportunity there. That’s a whole ‘nother subset of the population that we’re reaching with that.”

Lusco said the state will likely pick a handful of games for the competitions that each team can practice playing. Find Grant Union’s activity calendar on their website: https://guhs.grantschooldistrict.org/calendar.
