PASCO – Franklin County Commissioner Brad Peck issued a news release Wednesday announcing he is resigning effective Jan. 1, 2024, a position he’s held for the past 15 years.

In his announcement, Peck wrote, “The county has devolved into an arena of hyper-polarization, cronyism, workplace bullying and personal acrimony.”

Peck said he’s been contemplating this decision for several months and added he will “seek other opportunities to serve my community in healthier work environs.”

Following Peck’s announcement, Franklin County Administrator Mike Gonzalez said because Peck is a Republican, the Franklin County Republican Party Precinct Committee officers will select three candidates that the Franklin County Board of Commissioners will have to choose from. If the commissioners cannot decide, the decision will go to the governor’s office. The Franklin County Board of Commissioners have 90 days to select one of the three individuals.

Peck’s seat will come up for election in 2024. Any interested parties will have to file in May to run in the 2024 election. That person must live in District 1.
