EUFR offers homeowners help with creating defensible space

WESTON – East Umatilla Fire and Rescue has received a $176,000 grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal to help reduce the risk of wildfire.

From May 1 through September 30, EUFR will come out to assist homeowners in creating a defensible space around their residence to slow or stop the spread of wildfire. EUFR covers a wide area including Helix, Adams, Athena, and Weston.

The program is free, and homeowners can set up an appointment now by calling 541-566-2311 or sending an email to fuel.crew@eufr.org.
