DAYVILLE – Dayville School Superintendent Dr. Davida Irving made the slippery drive into John Day Friday morning to appear on KJDY’s Coffee Time.

Dayville and Monument Schools’ athletic departments combine to form a co-op team, the Tigers. Dr. Irving said that since school is closed today in Monument, officials have decided to cancel the Tigers’ away basketball games in Harper:

“Normally, they would leave school at 11:30 [a.m.] today, and since the roads are very, very icy in the Monument area we are not able to go up to where our game is.

So, again, it’s always a judgement call. We had to cancel several games last week.”

Dr. Irving said students, parents, and Tigers fans can keep an eye on the district’s website for schedule updates.
