HERMISTON – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners takes another step toward making the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center a city-owned facility. The county had already turned over its interest in the center itself to the city. Now, it’s handing over two roads.

“As part of the agreement with the city of Hermiston, the city agreed to assume jurisdiction over the adjacent county roads once improvements were made to the roads,” Board Chairman John Shafer said. “The improvements to East Airport Road and South Ott Road are now complete.”

Now it’s the city’s turn.

“The city will have a similar process to go through at their level and then at that point it will be complete,” he said. “Those roads will become city roads of Hermiston.”
