UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners is voting this morning on a partnership with the Hermiston School District to help students and staff stay healthy. The district has a space for a health center at the high school and wants to make it operational.

The district is proposing a partnership with UCo Health to provide services. Under the proposed agreement, the district would pay the operating costs of the health center. The Umatilla County Health Department would hire a nurse practitioner and an office assistant to supervise the operation.

The agreement stresses that the project is not requesting general fund support. The plan is for UCo Health and HSD to pursue additional revenues to sustain services for the health center.

Also at the meeting the board will consider co-adopting with the city of Hermiston an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan map. A public hearing is planned on the request from Hermiston Home Works, Inc. that would change the map from “urbanize” to “urban” status for an 80-acre tract on the south side of East Highland Avenue. The city has already adopted the proposed annex.   The meeting is at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Room 130 of the Umatilla County Courthouse in Pendleton.
