PENDLETON – Landowners and officials for the city of Pendleton are working on a complex plan that would see the development of 270 acres on the city’s east side for housing. Referred to as the Rees-Goad property, the land is without utilities. Public Works Director Bob Patterson updated the city council on the project at a work session this week.

“The city is looking at a reimbursement district and incorporating in the reimbursement district the cost of the road, the underground utilities that would be under the road or next to the road, and then you’ve got our standard utilities – water, sewer and storm,” Public Works Director Bob Patterson said.

Those aren’t the only considerations, however.

“In order to open this up, we’ve got to get a water line from the east end with the new booster station all the way to the west end, 6,500 feet away,” Patterson said.

Patterson talked in depth about the project on the KUMA Coffee Hour Wednesday. A podcast is posted at https://omny.fm/shows/coffee-hour-podcast.
