DAYTON – Columbia County Emergency Management, located in Dayton, Washington, was awarded a $200,000 grant by the Wildhorse Foundation to purchase four drones.

Two of the drones went to Columbia County Public Works and Columbia County Emergency Management. The other two drones, equipped with thermal imaging capabilities, are assigned to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Columbia County Fire District No. 3.

Thermal imaging will help firefighters detect hotspots and scout fires from the air. The sheriff’s office will use them for search and rescue missions, and to track down suspected criminals.
